Gafcon provided pre-construction and construction management services for the new Weyburn Terrace Graduate Student Housing project on the campus of University of California, Los Angeles. The Weyburn project includes approximately 275,000 gross square feet of new building space in the southwest zone of the campus. The project includes 500 studio apartment units and a commons building that will house meeting and reception spaces, adminsitration offices and academic and support functions.
Gafcon's scope of work includes: reviewing bid documents, project schedules, sequencing plans, and assisting in developing the construction bid package. During the construction period, responsibilities include coordinating submittals, requests for information and design modifications directly with the design professional and contractors on construction-related issues, reviewing schedules, monitoring construction progress, resolving construction issues, negotiating and processing contractor payment applications, processing change order requests, managing the contractors' utilization of the site and campus infrastructure, reviewing as-built and owner's manual documentation, managing quality control, assisting the university in managing SWPPP compliance, LEED® and commissioning activities, and planning and scheduling outages and major construction events that impact adjacent public and campus neighbors and the campus at large.
