The Housing Authority of the City of Los Angeles (HACLA) selected Gafcon and team for its community-based master plan for mixed-use, mixed income redevelopment of Jordan Downs and adjacent areas.
The project is a $1 billion plan to tear down the Jordan Downs housing project and create a new urban village. Jordan Downs is a 700-unit public housing apartment complex located in the high crime, low income district of Watts in Los Angeles. It consists of 103 buildings with townhouse style units ranging in size from one bedroom to five bedrooms. Of the 2,300 residents in Jordan Downs, most of them are single women and their children with an average annual income of about $15,500. The complex is owned and managed by HACLA. Gafcon, Inc. served as a sub consultant to WRT/Soloman providing project management services on the Jordan Downs Redevelopment project.
