10/03/18 – Message from Fred Parker: We Help Districts Make the Grade

All five of the bond programs in San Diego County that Gafcon, Inc. is managing made an “A” on the San Diego County Taxpayers’ Education Foundation’s 2018 School Bond Transparency in San Diego County Summary Report. Carlsbad Unified School District (CUSD), Grossmont-Cuyamaca Community College District (GCCCD), Grossmont Union High School District (GUHSD), San Diego Community College District (SDCCD), and San Diego Unified School District (SDUSD) were all awarded “A” scores – meeting all or most of the 25 categories on the availability and accessibility of public information on bond programs. Please see the full Summary Report to review actual scores for each District.

The report section scoring website information provision looks at whether bond program websites include member information, meeting agendas and materials, project lists, performance and financial audits, and committee bylaws information, among other categories. The reports and audits section evaluates program status, detailed information regarding the projects, expenditures by project and site, and project status.

If your district is seeking a top score for school bond program management, please reach out to Fred Parker, Director of Operations, at fparker@gafcon.com.
