1/30/18 – LA Business Journal: Construction Consulting Firm Gafcon Opens New Downtown Los Angeles Office
Construction consulting firm Gafcon Inc. has announced the opening of a new Los Angeles office in Suite 1790 in downtown’s Figueroa Tower, 660 S. Figueroa St., after 24 years nearby at 600 Wilshire Blvd.
The San Diego-based Gafcon has long been involved in noteworthy projects in Los Angeles, including work at The Forum in Inglewood, Los Angeles Unified School District and UCLA.
Gafcon also is providing project management services for the AltaSea project at the Port of Los Angeles in San Pedro. The company led the repurposing of the National Guard Armory Building in Culver City for the Wende Museum, which houses Cold War art and artifacts primarily from communist East Germany.
“Our larger Los Angeles office will allow us to stay more closely connected to the city and offers a fantastic location in a historic building,” said company founder Yehudi “Gaf” Gaffen in a statement.
The 24-story Figueroa Tower was built in 1988 and designed by architect Tim Vreeland of A.C. Martin Partners, according to the Los Angeles Conservancy. The 283,000-square-foot building is located directly above the 7th Street/Metro Center subway station serving the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority’s Red, Purple, Blue and Expo lines.
