San Diego Community College District

Gafcon Management served as the program manager for the San Diego Community College District’s voter-approved construction bond program funded by Proposition S, a $685 million bond passed in 2002, and Proposition N, an $870 million bond passed in 2006.

With the support of Gafcon’s program management services, the District completed approximately 100 projects including facility master plans, nearly 30 state-of-the-art academic and career-training facilities, more than 20 building renovation and expansion projects, dozens of infrastructure projects required to support future build-outs and improve energy and utility efficiencies at each campus, districtwide technology upgrades, parking, public safety enhancements, and police facilities, and multiple renewable energy projects.

Gafcon Management worked closely with the District and project teams to implement the District’s Green Building Policy and achieve sustainability goals. To date, San Diego Community College District is on track to receive 43 LEED certifications, including two Certified buildings, 25 Silver, 15 Gold, and one Platinum building—the most of any higher-education institution in California.
