In 2018, the County of San Mateo formulated a $700M, five-year capital improvement plan for improvement projects within the Department of Public Works, the Information Services Department, Parks Department, and the Project Development Unit. The project development unit (PDU), who provides oversight and project management on all new ground-up construction projects, was in search of a robust project management information system (PMIS) to assist them achieve their goals and provide transparent reporting. Gafcon implemented over 40 pre-configured business processes as part of Oracle’s Unifier for the County. This PMIS will assist the PDU to oversee the construction of a variety of unique projects, ranging from the San Mateo Medical Center Campus, a new $20 million Animal Shelter, a $58 million Public Safety Dispatch and Regional Operations Center, and various other public facilities.
