Gafcon, Inc. provided construction management services for the construction of a new 6,509 SF gymnasium at Magnolia Science Academy, a K-12 charter school. The project provided recreational space, food services, and an expanded outdoor area for the student body.
To meet the client’s tight schedule, Gafcon, Inc. had a seven-week period to prepare bid documents, perform contractor outreach, and award the project. The construction management team met deadlines by developing a detailed schedule of activities and working closely with the client, architect, contractor, and the health department to make sure all tasks were completed on time.
Gafcon, Inc. also ensured the charter school met their budget and program requirements. Working with the client and project team, Gafcon, Inc. explored value engineering options, saving the client approximately $130K, which then provided a budget for the gymnasium flooring. The Gafcon, Inc. team also completed diligent review of contractor change order requests, saving the client approximately 15% in contingency budget. The successful collaboration with Magnolia Public Schools and the project team ensured the project was brought in on time and under budget.
