As part of South Orange County Community College District’s Master Plan, they are making extensive updates to their campuses, including a new Health Center-Concessions facility and parking lot project at Irvine Valley College. Gafcon, Inc. was selected to provide construction management services as well as supporting scheduling and estimating.
The new Health Center-Concessions facility is located adjacent to the baseball field and is a new, single-story structure totaling 3,822 SF. The Health Center houses patient examination rooms, a waiting room with reception, centralized nurse station, medical supply room, offices, and restrooms. The athletics portion includes an athletic training facility, concession and ticket booth, and exterior public restrooms. In addition, bleacher seating for 300 was constructed and safety netting around the baseball field was implemented.
The parking lot phase 1A project comprises a total of 594 new parking stalls with 12 accessible parking stalls and infrastructure for 36 electric vehicle stalls along with site lighting and underground utilities located on the west side of campus. The surface parking is designed as asphalt concrete and Portland cement concrete sidewalks. The project incorporates driveway connections between the new parking lot and the existing parking lot to the north as well as a driveway connecting the new parking lot to the recently completed campus access road to the south.
