Gafcon, Inc. provided owner’s representative and construction management services for the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) Sproul Complex and West Residence Hall, serving as an extension of UCLA’s Capital Programs and Housing departments. This LEED Gold Certified project included two residence halls constructed on a steep site requiring extensive shoring and added nearly 500,000 SF of residential space. The Sproul South building is a six-story residence hall constructed on top of a new three story Sproul Complex. Sproul West is a nine-story building located just east of the existing Rieber Hall Building. The Sproul Complex houses the dining commons, fitness center and multipurpose room. The project adds 704-beds to existing UCLA-owned housing inventory.
Gafcon, Inc. developed an online document management and information control system which streamlined sharing of project information between the facilities department and contractor, accelerating completion to four months ahead of schedule.
