Gafcon, Inc. is providing contractor prequalification and labor compliance for the University of California, Davis (UCD) West Village undergraduate housing project which is being constructed under a public-private partnership. This mixed-use community on 34-acres includes 1,250 student housing units, a community center, multiple study rooms, and photovoltaic systems to provide power to the facility. This project is funded by $575M in tax-exempt bonds—the largest bond ever issued for a student housing project in the country. Ultimately, the West Village development will add approximately 3,300 beds, demonstrating the University’s commitment to the growing student population. The formal groundbreaking ceremony for The Green at West Village occurred in February of 2019. When completed, The Green at West Village will include nine four-story apartment buildings with indoor and outdoor community space and recreational fields.
